This privacy policy explains how ThinkWith.Coffee (“this website”) processes personal data, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Dutch implementing legislation (UAVG).
Who is responsible for your data
This website is operated by Serge van Namen, based in the Netherlands.

For the purposes of the GDPR, Serge van Namen is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.
What data is processed, and why
This is a static personal blog. It does not have user accounts, comments, or forms, so the only personal data processed comes from your use of the site itself:
Hosting logs. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub, as the hosting provider, may log technical data such as your IP address and request details to operate and secure its infrastructure. This processing is governed by GitHub’s own privacy statement.
Analytics (Google Analytics). This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which posts are read and roughly how much traffic the site gets. This involves cookies and the processing of data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited. These cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner described below; the legal basis for this processing is your consent.
Advertising (Google AdSense). This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, including personalized ads based on your browsing activity, and to measure ad performance. Like the analytics cookies above, these are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner. Google acts as an independent data controller for this processing. You can review and manage how Google personalizes ads at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of personalized advertising generally at youronlinechoices.eu.
Fonts. Page text is displayed using Google Fonts, loaded from Google’s servers. This is a standard static resource request (not a tracking cookie), but it does mean your browser contacts Google’s servers to fetch the fonts and Google may log that request, such as your IP address, in the same way any server logs requests.
Google’s own data practices for Analytics and AdSense are described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
International data transfers
Google processes data on servers located both inside and outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved transfer mechanism to protect that data.
How long data is kept
This website does not independently store the data described above; it is held by GitHub and Google under their own retention schedules. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for this property, and AdSense/advertising data according to Google’s own policies.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you
- request correction of inaccurate data
- request erasure of your data
- restrict or object to processing
- data portability, where applicable
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
Because most of the data described above is processed directly by Google and GitHub as independent controllers or processors, requests relating to analytics or advertising cookies are often best directed to Google directly via their privacy tools, in addition to contacting us.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the supervisory authority in your own EU member state.
Managing cookies
When you first visit this site, a cookie banner asks you to accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies. Nothing beyond strictly necessary technical requests is set until you choose “Accept.” You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link that appears in the bottom corner of the site after your first choice, or by clearing your browser’s local storage for this site. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings directly. Rejecting these cookies will not prevent you from reading this site; it only means your visit won’t be counted in analytics and ads won’t be personalized.
Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example as the tools used on this site change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
